Simple LinkedIn hacks

Back up your LinkedIn data

Imagine losing your LinkedIn account?

I know some people who have been banned recently. This must be extremely painful if you’ve spent years building your following, growing your business and recommendations on here - OUCH!

Don’t let this be you!

Download all your information every month by following these simple steps:

👉 Got to your ‘Settings’ on your desktop

👉 Select ‘Data Privacy’

👉 Select ‘Get a Copy of your data’

Make sure you are downlaoding your data every month - as you would sort your invoices. It really isn’t worth the risk and it only takes 5 minutes.

Recommendations

Don’t forget to regularly ask for recommendations - it keeps your profile looking fresh.

And spread some love and kindness by recommending somebody in your network every month!

Start building your company page

If you don’t have one, set it up and start inviting followers. You will have 250 people each month so it is much easier to grow your company profile than it used to be.

You don’t have to post on it in the same way as your personal profile but a company page makes you look more professional and credible.

Make time for engagement

Even if you’re not posting every day, make sure you are engaging for 15 minutes every day.  It is good to build it into your routine and it definitely helps you to be visible.

LinkedIn wants you to be on the platform and engaging. It helps nurture your audience and build relationships!

Don’t edit your post in the first hour

It may affect your reach. I’ve trialled this recently across some accounts and I’ve seen that posts that are edited have less reach. It could be a coincidence.

If you can leave the post for an hour to let the algorithm do its thing, but if you need to edit as there is a glaring typo then delete and start the post again.

Have fun!

LinkedIn is a place to meet, collaborate, discuss and learn.  If you’re finding you hate the platform then you may need to refresh your feed (see my previous newsletter on how to do this)

Or book in for a power hour with me and I can help you find a way to enjoy using LinkedIn. You can book here!
